Reported by Martin County Sheriff this morning

Martin County Sheriff’s Marine Units, Aviation, Dive Team, Patrol Deputies and Detectives along with Martin County Fire Rescue, FWC, and the United States Coast Guard vessels and helicopter are at Sea Turtle Beach were in Jensen Beach, actively searching for 17-year old Nick Lovensen Alincy of Ft. Pierce.

A witness said it appears Nick got caught up in rough surf during an early morning swim that was pulling him further out into the water.

Martin County Fire reported this:

We’re currently searching for a missing 17-year old male swimmer, last seen getting into the water near 4349 NE Ocean Blvd this morning.

The call came in around 6:48 am as a witness reported seeing the swimmer enter the water and begin struggling.

Our lifeguards responded and began searching before eventually calling in the MCFR Special Response Dive Team.

The MCFR Ocean Rescue building in Jensen Beach is our command center for the search.

Crews are also on jet skis and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office helicopter is up looking for any signs of the missing teen. The MCSO marine unit is out on the water, as well.

We’ve changed the beach flags to double red from Jensen Beach to Stuart Beach due to the search. Flags at Hobe Sound remain red because of dangerous conditions.

UPDATE ON SEARCH FOR MISSING SWIMMER

Our involvement in the search for the missing 17-year old swimmer has been called off after 4 & 1/2 hours with no results, and command has been turned over to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office & Coast Guard.

Our lifeguards used every tool at their disposal to try and locate the teen, including ATVs, jet skis, and parallel line searches.

The rough ocean conditions have made a dive search extremely difficult, and our team had to exit the water.

We understand our partners at MCSO will remain on scene & continue the search using side-by-sides, their helicopter and marine units.

Our hearts go out to the teens’ family & friends and hope he is found soon.

Around 2 pm Martin County Sheriff

We continue to search for the 17-year old swimmer who went  missing this morning on Sea Turtle Beach.

The Sheriff’s Office, Martin County Fire Rescue, US Coast Guard, FWC and even private boaters have used every resource possible to try to locate 17-year old Nicholas Alincy, with hopes we could initiate a rescue.  It has been about six hours since he was last seen by witnesses in the water showing signs of distress. The conditions of the ocean are extremely challenging and are getting worse throughout the day, but we will do whatever we can, as long as we can to try locate Nick.

This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
