Fatal multi-vehicle crash in Indiantown on Thanksgiving

Indiantown, Fl- The Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Martin County Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning.

It happened on Kanner Highway east of St. Lucie Mobile Home Village in Indiantown.

A large group of motorcycle riders were involved in the crash and there are other minor injuries.

The roadway in that area to be shut down for a couple of hours. FHP is handling the investigation.

This was the original report from Martin County Fire Rescue:

Traffic is now closed in the 11000 block of SW Kanner Hwy in Indiantown after a truck crashed into several motorcycles.

One rider has been killed and 2 others appear to be injured.

After that multiple people who were there went onto Martin County Fire Rescue page and insisted it was not the fault of the truck.

This is what they said:

“Please update your post, it is very misleading. The truck did not crash into several motorcycles, the driver of the truck actually saved multiple lives due to his driving skills and being able safely pull over after the motorcyclist pulled in front of him.

I was in this group and completely agree. That driver was not at fault and I don’t know how he was able to hold it on the grass the way he did but so many are thankful tonight because of him.

The post was then updated to say this:

UPDATE: According to FHP, the motorcyclist overtook other drivers in the eastbound lane.

Moments later, the side of the motorcycle collided with the truck within the eastbound lane, ejecting the motorcycle rider.

The driver of the truck stopped at the scene after the crash.

Several other riders sustained minor injuries.

It’s imperative that who ever is posting post the facts or wait for the update. Wait for FHP. They will sort it out. Thanks to everyone that spoke out.
