Wanted Georgia man with ‘violent’ history arrested in Hobe Sound

Hobe Sound, Fl- A Georgia man with an extensive criminal history and active warrant was arrested after alarming behavior in a residential neighborhood.

GEORGIA MAN WITH EXTENSIVE CRIMINAL HISTORY AND ACTIVE WARRANT ARRESTED AFTER ALARMING BEHAVIOR IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD

A Georgia man with a violent background, multiple convictions and an active warrant out of Georgia was arrested yesterday after camera security footage captured him prowling around and taking photos of a private home in Hobe Sound.

The images were captured in a community off of Gomez Avenue. 48-year old John Childers, who said he is homeless, tried looking inside the home, then began taking photos through the glass at one point trying to capture an image of a window above the front doors.

When deputies arrived, Childers said he was looking for a place to live even though he could not provide any further details about what he was doing there.

Deputies located his car, which had Texas plates, a few streets over. Childers was arrested and charged with prowling. If you have had a similar experience with John Childers, you are asked to call the Martin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
