Fort Pierce, Fl – The Fort Pierce Police are reporting an officer-involved shooting on Seaway Drive

OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING ON SEAWAY DRIVE

On December 26, 2023 at approximately 8:57 a.m., Fort Pierce Police officers responded to a call of larceny at Cumberland Farms, located at 975 Seaway Drive. An officer saw a person matching the description of the suspect walking west on Seaway Drive near Museum Pointe Park and attempted to stop him.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect fire multiple shots at the officer as he exited his patrol vehicle at approximately 9:09 a.m. The officer and the suspect exchanged fire several times and the suspect was wounded. He was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in stable condition. The officer was not struck during the exchange of gunfire. 

Per standard operating procedure, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the officer-involved shooting. The Fort Pierce Police Department is handling the criminal investigation. #fortpiercepolicedepartment
