The Saga continues…
From Alicia Jay:
Episode 6
Episode 6: Breaking my ankle was worse than the forced seclusion & isolation of the pandemic. During the pandemic I wasn’t the only person having to endure it. When I broke my ankle? The world was back open & thriving again. Only, I wasn’t. My work was giving me as much as they could, to be able to work from home, but it was a job that truly required me to be there. I was sitting there one day & just really upset at my bad fortune. Normally I don’t pay attention to all the notifications from social media, but this one day? I did. And Facebook had sent me an invitation to become a digital creator. I had no idea what that even meant! But? I went through with uploading all the necessary information. After all? What else did I have to do? I was depressed, couldn’t leave my home, it was the middle of summer & there was literally nothing else for me to do. And then they sent me tips & videos of how to do better. I was like? Okay… so this is what we are doing now! I continued to make the videos of birds, squirrels, and the wildlife… The only difference? Facebook was sending statistics of my overall reach to people. I was BLOWN AWAY! I literally had no idea! My daughter (now almost 13) was a huge help too. We became a unified front to make sure the bird feeder had food, the bird bath was clean, even my neighbor was kind enough to drop off the raw peanuts all the animals loved! I started to FEEL better! Mid to late July I went back to work full-time. I kept up with the house, the birds, my daughter etc. In the meantime still posting & creating content from the camera. It was like the broken ankle didn’t happen & I was busier than ever (in my little world). It was around the end of August that Birdfy by Netvue contacted me regarding my posts. I had been very active in their online community with everything I had witnessed in my backyard & on the camera the previous year. They told me they really liked my style of posting & “would I help them launch a new product?” I was so excited & thrilled I literally jumped at their offer! Of course I was interested!!!! I already loved the one camera I had purchased & knew how amazing their customer service & support was. It was a company I had been in contact with for a little over a year. I had also already committed to purchasing their nesting camera back in February of 2023. It was like I had won the lottery! I think those closest to me thought I had lost my mind at that point. “Alicia – it’s just a camera.” Oh I knew that! But I also knew that it wasn’t “just a camera!” It was my salvation to my sanity!!! So? I agreed to partner with them. Best decision I could have made & coincidentally & simultaneously launching myself even further into becoming the “crazy local bird lady.” But how many products could they possibly be developing????
