Port St. Lucie, Fl – During a traffic stop for numerous traffic violations one of suspects passed out. He was given multiple doses of narcan and required cpr. He was eventually stabilized.
Here are the details from the Port St.Lucie Police:
On January 26th, 2024, at 11:10 pm, PSLPD Special Investigations Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a white Honda sedan occupied by 22-year-old driver, Lauryn Leavitt and 25-year-old passenger, Marquise Allen. The stop was for numerous traffic violations such as improper turn, speeding, and unlawful lane change. The detectives could also smell the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The final location of the traffic stop was the parking lot of 3199 SW Darwin Blvd.
During the stop, both occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle. Leavitt was asked to empty her pockets and a blue circular pill with “M-30” stamped on it was discovered. This was suspected to be fentanyl based on the detective’s training and experience.
While detectives were speaking with Allen, he said he felt like he was going to pass out and he asked for an ambulance. Allen’s speech slowed and he was unsteady on his feet. Allen began to collapse, and a detective placed him in the rescue position while another detective retrieved Narcan. SLCFD was also called to the scene.
Detective Stotler administered two doses of Narcan, but there was no effect and Allen stopped breathing. Detective Oliver immediately began CPR. More officers were requested to respond to the scene and rescue was requested to expedite as CPR was in progress.
As more officers and detectives arrived on scene, two more doses of Narcan were administered, but Allen did not regain consciousness. Officer Oliver continued CPR until a pulse was gained as SLCFD arrived on scene and took over rescue efforts.
SLCFD transported Allen to Cleveland Clinic at Tradition where he was eventually stabilized, conscious and breathing.
