One dead after shooting at Indrio Savannahs preserve

St.Lucie County, Fl- The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office is trying to determine what led to the Thursday-night shooting at a county preserve that left one person dead.

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATE THURSDAY NIGHT SHOOTING AT INDRIO SAVANNAHS PRESERVE THAT LEFT ONE DEAD

Around 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024, deputies responded to the Indrio Savannahs Preserve, located at 5275 Tozour Rd, in reference to a shooting that resulted in the death of 47-year-old Indian River County resident James Alan Behncke.

All parties involved are accounted for.

There is no threat to the public.

As detectives continue to collect evidence, their preliminary investigation has revealed that this is domestic in nature.

The events leading up to this shooting are under investigation.
