Port St. Lucie Police arrest 23-year-old driver, racing at 117 mph with 8-year-old child inside car

Port St.Lucie, Fl- A 23-year-old woman was arrested in Port St. Lucie after police said she was driving 117 mph with an 8-year-old child inside the vehicle.

Here are the details from the Port St.Lucie Police:

Speeding + Racing + a Child in the Car = Jail

On May 9th, 2024, at about 10:20 pm, a PSLPD officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the 1300 block of SW Gatlin Blvd. when he observed two vehicles racing eastbound at a high rate of speed. The officer’s radar displayed a speed of 117 mph in a 45 mph zone. Yes, you read that correctly… 117 mph.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on one of the two vehicles, a 2023 Dodge Charger Hellcat, and identified the driver as 23-year-old Juliette Leon of Port St. Lucie. Also in the vehicle was an 8-year-old child.

Leon was arrested for Racing on Highways and Child Neglect. She was also cited for excessive speed and her vehicle was towed. The child was released to a responsible family member.

Leon has since been released from the St. Lucie County Jail on $3,500.00 bond.
