PSL Man Arrested for Hit and Run with DUI at Parent Pickup

On August 22nd, 2024, at 3:16 PM, PSLPD responded to a minor traffic crash with no injuries in the parent pickup line at St. Lucie West K-8.

The caller advised the other driver, 42-year-old Brian Hicks, appeared intoxicated and that he was attempting to flee the scene; however, the School Resource Deputy with St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office prevented the other driver from fleeing and detained him until PSLPD arrived.

The investigation revealed that Hicks had actually fled from a previous hit and run crash on SW Port St. Lucie Blvd and SW Gatlin Blvd. just prior to this incident.

Hicks was arrested and charged with DUI with Damage to the Property of Another, DUI – 4th or Subsequent Offense, DUI with a Blood Alcohol of .15 or Higher, 2 counts of Hit and Run with Property Damage, Driving While License Suspended – 3rd or Subsequent Violation, Driving While License Revoked – 3rd or Subsequent Violation.
