I feel I have a very unique perspective on this particular issue. I was born here. I owned a salon in downtown for several years. I currently run my business out of a shop in Colorado Plaza. The salon is literally built over Frazier Creek. I spend my day watching birds, turtles, fish, raccoons, and 100-year-old mangroves. I would like to know what will be done to protect the creek. Whoever built Colorado Plaza did so with care. The building winds around the creek, leaving vegetation and the water alone. Will my creek remain the same? As the saying goes, sh*t rolls downstream. Will I still work in paradise? The Creek Arts District is all for this hotel. I am not sure why. What will they do to protect their namesake? I am not opposed to a hotel, however, this one does not fit. It’s generic and unlike anything downtown. Also, there is a perfectly good, empty piece of property from Nobile Shoes to Fruits & Roots. Why not there?? This proposal hurts my heart. We can, and should do better.
