Fatal Semi Crash Closes Highway

Both lanes in the 12000 block of SW Conners Hwy are closed in Okeechobee due to a crash involving a box truck and a semi-truck.

Our crews responded to the scene after the call came in around 2 pm. The initial investigation shows one truck rear ended the other, causing both to be entangled.

Tragically, one of the drivers was killed.

The other driver suffered minor injuries.

Use caution and pay attention if traveling in the area. Prepare to stop, or use a detour.

FHP is handling the investigation.
