Here is the information from St.Lucie County:
June is National Microchip Month. To help with this initiative, St. Lucie County is offering free lifetime registration/microchips for pets that belong to residents in the unincorporated area of the county (outside city limits) throughout the month of June. Residents of the City of Fort Pierce and the City of Port St. Lucie may also participate in this event at a cost of $10 for each lifetime registration microchip.
The second annual free microchipping event will take place at the St. Lucie County Animal Safety Shelter, located at 3404 W. Midway Road in Fort Pierce, on Thursdays throughout June (June 13, 20 & 27). The June 6 date is fully booked. Time slots are scheduled every 30 minutes to ensure accuracy in the information being stored on the microchip for the pet and owner. Time slots will begin at 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. (no appointments from 12:30 to 2 p.m.). There is a limit of five microchips per household.
